Diponegoro University’s Faculty of Law Promotes Collaborative Anti-Online Gambling and Drug Abuse Education in Wonosobo

The Faculty of Law at Diponegoro University (FH Undip), through the Law and Women’s Study Group (KKHW), held a Community Service (PKM) activity in the form of education on the dangers of online gambling and the abuse of narcotics, psychotropics, and other addictive substances (NAPZA) in Serang Village, Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency, on Saturday (April 25, 2026).

Themed “Synergy of Anti-Online Gambling and Anti-Drug Abuse Education: Efforts to Build a Healthy and Productive Generation,” this activity is part of the Faculty of Law Undip’s contribution to responding to the dynamics of social issues that are increasingly widespread across regions, including rural areas, along with the development of the digital ecosystem.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Retno Saraswati, S.H., M.Hum., accompanied by the Chair of KKHW, Prof. Dr. Ani Purwanti, S.H., M.Hum., and the Head of Serang Village, Wisnu Budi Utomo, with support from the Kejajar Police.

In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Ani Purwanti, S.H., M.Hum., emphasized that strengthening public awareness is crucial, but that a more comprehensive approach must accompany it.

“The problems of online gambling and drug abuse cannot be viewed solely as individual issues, but are also related to social factors and technological developments, thus requiring synergy between education, policy, and law enforcement,” she said.

As a resource person, Dr. Nur Rochaeti, S.H., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing these two issues, so that the measures taken are not only repressive but also preventative and sustainable.

Meanwhile, Dr. Elfia Farida, S.H., M.Hum., emphasized a human rights-based approach in handling victims.

“A rehabilitative approach is crucial, because victims need not only law enforcement but also recovery through medical and social services, including detoxification and behavioral therapy,” he explained.

This activity also included an interactive discussion involving the community. Residents gained an understanding of the signs of drug abuse and online gambling addiction, as well as prevention and treatment measures at the family and community levels.

Through this activity, the Faculty of Law, Diponegoro University (Undip), emphasized its role in promoting an approach that is not only educational but also collaborative and contextual to strengthen the community’s social resilience in facing increasingly complex challenges.
