Semarang, May 30, 2024 – The Faculty of Law, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) continued the series of Lex Proficia 2024 summer courses with the sixth session with the theme “International Investment Law, Trade, and Environmental.” This event was held online and presented Dr. Ivana Damjanovic, LL.B., LL.M., from the University of Canberra, Australia as the main speaker. This session was hosted by Rahandy Rizki Prananda, S.H., M.H., lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Diponegoro University.
Dr. Ivana Damjanovic, gave an insightful presentation on “International Investment Law, and Climate Action.” She explained the basic concepts of international investment law and investment dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanisms, and how they can be used to support climate action. “International investment law and ISDS are often perceived as barriers to climate action, but can actually be effective tools to encourage green investment and ensure the environmental responsibility of investors,” said Dr. Damjanovic. The moderator facilitated an interactive Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to have a direct dialogue with Dr. Damjanovic and ask questions related to international investment law issues and climate action.
The session was attended by more than 70 participants from various backgrounds, including students, and academics from several countries such as malaysia, and australia. The sixth session of the Lex Proficia 2024 summer course provided valuable insights and encouraged participants to continue championing greener investment and trade.

This session was held online and presented H.E. Laurentius Amrih Jinangkung, S.H., LL.M., as the main speaker, with moderator Fachry Hasani Habib, S.H., M.H. The discussion this time focused on Indonesia’s geographical characteristics and current climate change, as well as Indonesia’s efforts in facing these challenges.
The keynote speaker, H.E. Laurentius Amrih Jinangkung, discussed Indonesia’s geographical characteristics and the climate change challenges it faces, highlighting its vulnerability to natural disasters such as rising sea levels and storms. He emphasized that Indonesia is at the forefront of climate change, and the impacts on coastal areas and ocean-dependent communities are significant. H.E. Jinangkung also outlined Indonesia’s efforts in facing these challenges through international cooperation and the implementation of national policies focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Semarang, May 29, 2024 – The Faculty of Law, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) continued the Lex Proficia 2024 summer course series with the fourth session with the theme “Blue Economic Law, Climate Justice, and Sustainable Development of Governance” by presenting two expert speakers, namely Dr. Mas Achmad Santosa, S.H., LL.M., and Andreas Aditya Salim, S.H., LL.M., with moderator Anggita Doramia Lumbanraja, S.H., M.H. This event was held online through Zoom Meeting.
The first speaker, Dr. Mas Achmad Santosa, S.H., LL.M., an environmental and maritime law expert and chairman of the Indonesia Ocean Justice Initiative, delivered a presentation entitled “Reconceptualizing Environmental Law for the Anthropocene.” He explained how environmental law must adapt to the Anthropocene era, where human activities have a significant impact on the planet. “We need to reconstruct environmental law to be more responsive to the challenges of the Anthropocene era, including climate change and human-induced environmental degradation,” Dr. Santosa said. Dr. Santosa also emphasized the need for a more integrative and interdisciplinary approach in designing environmental policies and laws.
Andreas Aditya Salim, co-founder of the Indonesia Ocean Justice Initiative, discussed the latest developments in international law on ocean protection and climate change at the fourth session of the Lex Proficia 2024 summer course. The session was moderated by Anggita Doramia Lumbanraja, a lecturer at Diponegoro University’s Faculty of Law, who ensured the discussion covered each topic in depth. Semarang, May 28, 2024 – During the Lex Proficia 2024 summer course series, the Faculty of Law at Diponegoro University focused on the theme of “International Human Rights and the Environmental Impact of War (Israel-Palestine Case).” The event, which took place online, featured two prominent speakers: Prof. Markus Wagner from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and Prof. Alberto Costi. The session was hosted by Fachry Hasani Habib.
Prof. Markus Wagner discussed the use of strategic litigation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He explained that strategic litigation aims to establish strong legal precedents and provide justice for the victims, while also advocating for broader policy changes. The Faculty of Law at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) held the second session of the Lex Proficia 2024 summer course with the theme “International Environmental Law and Climate Diplomacy.” The event took place online through Zoom Meeting and featured two speakers, H.E. Arif Havas Oegroseno and Prof. Dr. Christina Voigt, with a moderator.
Arif Havas Oegroseno, a former Indonesian Ambassador to Belgium, spoke about the role of diplomacy in addressing global environmental issues. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and commitment from all countries to tackle climate change and protect the environment. Arif Havas Oegroseno highlighted that climate diplomacy is essential for achieving strong and binding international agreements. He emphasized that this is a global challenge that requires global solutions.
In a discussion led by Prof. Dr. Christina Voigt, a leading environmental law expert, the importance of international agreements such as the Paris Agreement in addressing climate change was highlighted.
