The meeting was interactive, focusing on opportunities to develop academic collaboration between the Faculty of Law at Universitas Diponegoro and the University of Sheffield. Furthermore, both parties discussed the potential to implement a “Ph.D. by Research” program as an alternative pathway for faculty members’ advanced studies, as well as the possibility of developing a Master of Laws (LL.M.) program—the Double Degree program, which is expected to broaden students’ academic experiences through cross-border collaboration. The establishment and strengthening of a research center focused on global legal issues was also a key topic of discussion, envisioned as a platform for producing innovative, high-impact collaborative research.
As an initial step, the meeting resulted in a commitment to launch a joint research collaboration between academics from the Faculty of Law at Universitas Diponegoro and the University of Sheffield. This collaboration is expected to serve as a foundation for joint research initiatives, scholarly publications in reputable international journals, academic and researcher exchanges, and broader cooperation in education, research, and community service.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Diponegoro reaffirms its commitment to expanding its international network and enhancing the quality of its “Tridarma” (Three Pillars of Higher Education) activities—education, research, and community service—by forging strategic collaborations with world-class higher education institutions. It is hoped that the outcomes of this meeting will be promptly translated into concrete and sustainable collaborative programs, thereby supporting the Faculty’s vision of becoming a progressive, research-driven, and globally competitive law school.
