Semarang, June 15, 2025 — The Diponegoro University Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) students once again demonstrated their commitment to community empowerment through a program to socialize legalization and halal certification for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Rowosari Village, Tembalang District. This activity is part of the students’ ongoing efforts to support the increased competitiveness of local MSME products through legal certainty and product halal assurance. The socialization program carried out by the Undip KKN-T team aims to provide a comprehensive understanding to business actors of the importance of obtaining halal certification as a guarantee of product halalness, as well as various necessary aspects of business legality.
The socialization of business legality and halal certification, conducted by the Undip KKN-T team at the Rowosari Village Office Hall, was enthusiastically welcomed by local MSME actors. Many of them had previously faced limitations in information and access regarding the processes of business legalization and halal certification. During the activity, the student team explained various types of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), including Copyright, Patent Rights, and Industrial Design, among others. The student team also encouraged MSME actors to understand the importance of knowledge related to IPR for their products, so that the products they sell can have added value and expand their market share. Furthermore, the student team provided a complete explanation of Intellectual Property Rights, specifically Copyright and Trademark Rights for MSME users. Additionally, the student team outlined the procedures for managing the Business Identification Number (BIN) and the process for registering halal certificates through the SIHALAL system. Not only did they provide socialization, but participants also received direct technical assistance to complete forms and understand the required documentation, making the socialization not only theoretical but also practical and helpful for MSMEs in strengthening their legality and product competitiveness.

Additionally, the activity explained the mechanism for business licensing through the OSS (Online Single Submission) system. This system represents a form of government commitment to simplify business permits, making them faster, more transparent, and more accountable. Furthermore, the activity also highlighted the importance of understanding and complying with the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE), which serves as the primary legal basis for data protection, the validity of electronic documents, and the governance of digital communication in the public and business sectors. Through this activity, the community can increase awareness of the importance of digital innovation and legal compliance in running a business.

Subsequently, the socialization continued with a presentation on the Personal Data Protection Law. The Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) Number 27 of 2022 provides clear legal protection for the personal data of the public, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This law regulates how personal data must be managed securely and transparently, enabling consumers to feel more confident when conducting digital transactions. The implementation of the UU PDP is expected to increase consumer trust and help MSMEs develop safely in the digital era, particularly in managing business operations to maintain data security and protect customer privacy rights in accordance with the UU PDP.
