Scientific Orations Highlight the 69th Anniversary of the Faculty of Law Undip

The Faculty of Law, Universitas Diponegoro (FH Undip) held a Scientific Oration event to commemorate its 69th Anniversary on Friday, January 9, 2026. The event took place in the Fiat Justitia Room, Samiadji Soerjotjaroko, S.H. Building, Faculty of Law Undip, and was attended by university leaders, faculty leaders, lecturers, teaching staff, students, and invited guests.

The event began with a speech and a presentation of the Faculty of Law Undip’s achievements by the Dean of FH Undip, Prof. Dr. Retno Saraswati, S.H., M.Hum. In her remarks, the Dean highlighted the faculty’s strategic achievements in academics, research, community service, and strengthening national and international networks as part of FH Undip’s commitment to becoming an excellent and competitive legal education institution.

The event continued with a speech by the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, who officially opened the event by striking a gong, symbolizing the commencement of the 69th Anniversary Scientific Oration series at the FH Undip. The atmosphere grew even more solemn with the screening of congratulatory videos from various partner universities, expressing support and collaboration between higher education institutions.

Moving into the main agenda, the first Scientific Oration was delivered by Dr. Amalia Diamantina, S.H., M.Hum., entitled “Statelessness, Human Rights, and State Sovereignty: Quo Vadis Citizenship Protection in Indonesia.” In her oration, Dr. Amalia examined the challenges of citizenship protection in Indonesia from the perspectives of human rights and state sovereignty within the context of the global dynamics. The first oration was interspersed with a musical performance by FH Undip students, adding to the sense of togetherness and pride among the academic community in celebrating the 69th anniversary.

Next, the second Scientific Oration was delivered by Dr. Umi Rozah, S.H., M.Hum., with the title “Shifting Paradigms in Sentencing in the 2023 Criminal Code System (From Retribution to Humane Justice).” This oration highlighted the fundamental shift in the sentencing paradigm in the 2023 Criminal Code, which emphasizes the values of humanity, justice, and restoration within the national criminal justice system.

The series of events continued with the tumpeng-cutting ceremony by the Dean of FH Undip, symbolizing gratitude for the journey and achievements of the Faculty of Law, Undip, over its 69 years. The first piece of tumpeng was given to FH Undip’s most senior Professor, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., and then to the youngest lecturer, Stephanie Apsari Putri, S.H., M.H., Ph.D., as a symbol of academic generational continuity in the Faculty of Law Undip.

On this occasion, mementos and certificates of retirement were also presented to lecturers and educational staff who have entered retirement, followed by a group photo session as an expression of appreciation for their dedication and service to FH Undip. The Scientific Oration concluded with the distribution of door prizes and a joint lunch for all participants, further strengthening the sense of togetherness and family within the academic community of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Diponegoro.
