Semarang – Satya Dharma Gita Student Choir (PSM SDG) Diponegoro University Faculty of Law, once again held an international choir festival, titled “7th Satya Dharma Gita Choir Festival” (SDGCF) 2019 on August 27-31, 2019, which was held in Radjawali Semarang Cultural Center and Diponegoro Pleburan University Campus.
Something different in the holding of the 7th SDGCF 2019 than the previous year there were festival which called as the Satya Dharma Gita National Choir Festival (SDGNCF), whereas this year the organizers eliminated the word “National” so that it became the Satya Dharma Gita Choir Festival (SDGCF), which was the the first step to introduce the organizer’s goal, which is to bring this competition to the international level. It is hoped that in the future organizers can accommodate not only domestic participants, but also international participants.

In organizing this year, the 7th SDGCF 2019 comes with extraordinary changes, including: the start of the Solo Vocal Competition. Presenting four international judges from Slovenia and the Philippines. In addition, there were also several competent national judges in the field of choir. The presence of 4 international judges and several national judges has become a higher platform for holding more competitive competitions.
This year’s festival, the quality of the choir competition has begun to increase, such as by tightening the selection of records, the very challenging song provisions in each category, as well as the fairly competitive assessment of the judges. The Chair of the 2017 7th SDGNCF Committee Jircho Brascha, said “That the holding of the SDGCF this year is the first step for Undip PSG SDG FH to raise the level of the festival from national to international scale”. The mission was also supported by the Rector of Diponegoro University Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, SH, MHum where he really hopes that one day this festival will become an international choir festival.

This year Cantabile Chorale Yogyakarta became the 1st Winner of Grand Champion in the choir competition. As for the composition competition, Nicholas Rio came out first in the Sacred Music Category and Stefanus Vincent came out first in the Secular Music Category. Also in the Solo Vocal competition, Shelomita Gasya Amory came out first in the Children & Teenager Category, Josefina Setia Widianti came out first in the Youth Category, and for the Adult Category, first place was held by Ignatius Rangga Sidhaputra Suryanata.
This activity can be carried out well because of the will of God Almighty, the hard work of the 7th SDGCF 2019 committee, as well as support from the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Diponegoro University, support from the Diponegoro University Rector, guidance from Ms. Tity Wahju, S.H., M.Hum. and Mr. Kadek Cahya Susila, S.H., M.H. as the coach of PSM SDG FH Undip; support from alumni of SDM FH Undip PSM, as well as support from sponsors, especially Bank BTN, Fifastra, Radjawali Semarang Cultural Center, Balemong, Brasari and various parties which cannot be mentioned one by one
