Faculty of Law Universitas Diponegoro and Bawaslu Semarang City Sign a Cooperation Agreement at Novotel Semarang

The Faculty of Law, Universitas Diponegoro is strengthening its commitment to the development of education, research, and community service in the field of elections by signing a Cooperation Agreement with the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) of Semarang City. This event was held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Novotel Hotel Semarang and was part of a joint agenda that also involved the Faculty of Law from Unissula and UNTAG Semarang. The Undip Faculty of Law was represented by its Dean, Prof. Dr. Retno Saraswati, S.H., M.Hum., accompanied by Vice Dean for Academics and Student Affairs, Dr. Aditya Yuli Sulistyawan, S.H., M.H. From Bawaslu Semarang City, the event was attended directly by the Chairman, Arief Rahman, S.H., M.H.

This signing is an effort to expand strategic partnership networks between higher-education institutions and election management bodies, particularly in promoting the enhancement of democratic quality and strengthening electoral oversight capacity. Through this collaboration, the Faculty of Law Undip and Bawaslu Semarang opened opportunities for collaboration in the form of research, seminars, workshops, curriculum development, student internship programs, and other academic activities relevant to the needs of election monitoring.

Prof. Dr. Retno emphasized the importance of synergy between higher education institutions and state agencies as a foundation for a healthy democracy. The Dean of Law Faculty Undip stated that this cooperation is not only of strategic value to the institutions but also provides significant empirical learning opportunities for law students.

The Chairman of Bawaslu Semarang, Arief Rahman, S.H., M.H., expressed his appreciation to the Faculty of Law Undip for its ongoing academic commitment in supporting the professionalization of election supervisors. According to him, the involvement of universities is a crucial element in creating more participatory, research-based, and responsive oversight to the socio-political dynamics of society.

The event concluded with a group photo session and a brief discussion on follow-up agendas, including plans for upcoming joint activities. Through this signing, the Undip Faculty of Law reaffirmed its role as a center for the development of legal studies that actively contributes to strengthening democratic governance at both the local and national levels.
