Sukoharjo (22/1/2025) – Students from the Community Service Program (KKN) Team I of Diponegoro University (Undip) in 2025 have successfully carried out a mono-disciplinary work program titled “Education to Build Children’s Character that Obeys the Law.” This activity was held at Pengkol 1 State Elementary School (SDN), Pengkol Village, Nguter District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java.
According to the speaker, Mochammad Ali Pascal Wahyusuf, an 8th-semester Undip Faculty of Law (FH) student, children are the nation’s assets that determine the future. In shaping a bright future for the nation, supporting children’s understanding of obeying the law from an early age is necessary. Building a sense of obeying the law early in children is an essential investment for their future and society.
The student, often called Ali, said that he had observed several children in Pengkol Village before carrying out the work program. “There are still some children who do not understand the law, what the function of the law is, and why the law must be obeyed. For example, ” some children still litter and verbally bully,” he explained.
The students delivered the material in this activity through an interactive and easily understood approach. The material presented contained an introduction to what law is, what the function of law is, why the law must be obeyed, examples of the application of law in society, and a final session containing games. Furthermore, according to Ali, understanding the law will be easier for children if it is exemplified through their favorite hobbies. “When delivering the material, I analogized the application of the law to a rule in a football game,” Ali concluded.
This activity received a positive response from the Principal of SDN Pengkol 1, Agus Sri Antana. “Of course, with this activity that aims to increase students’ awareness of the importance of law, it further strengthens and provides enforcement to students to better understand and understand the order of rules,” he said.
Understanding the importance of legal compliance from an early age can create a quality young generation and build a better future for Indonesia to realize the nation’s ideals to become a just, prosperous, and civilized society.
The success of this work program is concrete proof that Undip students can positively impact society by implementing knowledge that has been learned on campus. This shows that students have an essential role in advancing and empowering society.
