SDGs 14 – Marine Ecosystems
SDG Goal 14 aims to conserve and sustainably use marine and ocean resources for sustainable development. To achieve national goals regarding marine ecosystems by 2030, ten targets have been established, measured through fifteen indicators. These targets encompass marine spatial planning and sustainable marine area management; fishing within safe biological limits (Maximum Sustainable Yield/MSY) and the eradication of Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing; the expansion of marine conservation areas and sustainable resource use; and support for and protection of small-scale fishers. The efforts to achieve these targets are outlined in policies, programs, and activities to be implemented by both government and non-governmental organizations.
